May 24 is observed as World Schizophrenia Day. Schizophrenia is a mental illness which affects the functioning of one’s brain. It is a psychiatric condition where certain chemicals in certain areas of brain are out of balance. There can be lack of co-ordination between thoughts, actions and emotions. This day provides an opportunity to understand the importance of mental health, spread awareness about this illness in general.
